Stroke

Hope for your life back!

An integrative approach, combining multiple therapies, which provides the best results for stroke recovery.

What is a Stroke?

A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or severely reduced, depriving brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients. As a result, brain cells begin to die within minutes. The two types of strokes are ischemic strokes and hemorrhagic storkes. About 85 percent of strokes are ischemic strokes. Ischemic strokes occur when the arteries to the brain become narrowed or blocked, causing severely reduced blood flow. A hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a blood vessel in your brain leaks or ruptures. This is often due to uncontrolled high blood pressure, over-treatment with anticoagulants, and weak spots in your blood vessel walls, called aneurysms.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy help increase blood flow to the brain, therefore, increasing brain activity. Furthermore, when an individual has a stroke, there are often physical and mobililty-related setbacks. With this in mind, our physical therapists work with the patient to regain their range of movement.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

A specialized form of medical treatment administered by delivering 100% pure oxygen to the body through increased atmospheric pressure greater than 1.3 ATA. in an enclosed hard chamber.

Suit Therapy

Neuro Physical Therapy and Suit Therapy

The Oxford Recovery Center integrates conventional Physical Therapy and Suit Therapy programs to accelerate the development of new motor skills that strengthen muscles and teach the brain and body how to sit, stand, and walk.

qEEG Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback/qEEG with Real-time Brain Imaging

The Oxford Neurofeedback program evaluates brain activity patterns and teaches self-regulation of brain function through quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG). Also known as “brain mapping,” qEEG analyzes electrical patterns at the surface of the scalp.
